It is very frustrating when your laptop’s touchpad stops responding to your fingers in the middle of your work.
If you are facing this problem for the first time, just reboot your computer and see if that fixes it.
If it’s a new laptop, and if you are not well versed with your keyboard, it might happen that you accidentally disable the touchpad.
All the laptops have different ways of enabling and disabling the touchpad. But widely, there is a combination of keys that will toggle the touchpad on and off. It usually involves holding down the “Fn” key along with one of the function keys from F1 to F12. Examine the little icons on the function keys and find an appropriate icon which might suggest the touchpad.
In few laptop models, there is a tiny light on the touchpad itself which turns red in colour if the touchpad is disabled. You have to tap that light thrice to enable it and the light turns to white.
Some laptops have either a button above or around the touchpad pressing by which we can enable or disable the touchpad
It can also happen that the computer is frozen, and does not respond to any of the commands. In this case, the touchpad would also not work.
It is also important to have a look at your mouse or touchpad settings too, as they may keep your touchpad from working in certain circumstances.
If you are too tied up with your work and want to see to this matter later, just connect an external mouse if you have one. This will solve your problem temporarily
